Photographing your products

  1. Photograph your product variants (SKUs) and name the files in this format: XXXXXXXX_001.jpg

XXXXXXXX is the SKU or Barcode 001 is a version number of the photo 2. Version numbers are useful if you are taking a a number of photos of the same SKU before deciding on final photo. Shopify only allows 1 photo per SKU Variant 3. Applications like Lightroom and CaptureOne allow a naming function like this 4. The use of a USB Barcode Scanner to help name the files speeds up this progress and decreases typing errors.

Using the App

  1. Add your Variant Image files from your hard drive. Ideally product shots should be 1:1 ratio and at least 1024 x 1024 pixels. (I generally use 2048x 2048)You will see them listed. You can add and remove.
  2. The app will take everything up to the "_" in the filename as the SKU
  3. If the SKU is wrong you can edit it in the window
  4. When ready, click Match SKUs - the app will try and match all images(SKUs) with SKUs in the Shopify store. Green status means a match, Red no match. Amber duplicate symbol means you have 2 files for 1 variant and you must decide and remove one as you can only have one image per variant.
  5. When ready click Upload Images and all matched (green) images will upload to their spots. You should see them appear in Shopify.
